Strengthening the agricultural sector in the Oromia region, Ethiopia

The intervention aims to create new job and business opportunities in the agri-food sector in order to improve local living conditions, particularly for young people and potential migrant women in Oromia, by strengthening the alignment of vocational education supply with the skills demand of businesses in the sector, creating innovative and sustainable support and advisory services for businesses/cooperatives, and facilitating their access to credit and other financial services.

COOPI: is an Italian non-governmental organization founded in Milan in 1965, today present in 31 countries with 225 development and emergency projects reaching over five million people, and a budget in 2019 of €49,115,747. In Ethiopia, COOPI has an uninterrupted presence since 1995 made up of numerous interventions mainly in the WASH and livelihoods sectors, in the regions of Addis Ababa, Oromia, Somali, Amhara, Afar and Benishangul-Gumuz. To date, interventions are concentrated in the Oromia, Afar, Somali and recently Sidama regions.

ICEADDIS: is a private company registered in the country and operating as a social enterprise since 2011. ICEADDIS, where ICE stands for innovation, collaboration and entrepreneurship, was the first to introduce incubation and innovation for start-ups in Ethiopia. The focus of the company is to support the private initiative of young aspiring entrepreneurs and facilitate interaction between them and technology experts, entrepreneurs and investors.

EDUKANS

EDUKANS: is a Dutch NGO with more than 15 years of cooperation experience, active in Malawi, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia. Specialized in the access of disadvantaged children and young people to quality primary, secondary and technical-vocational education, it adopts an approach that sustainable strengthens teachers' teaching, technical and pedagogical capacities and introduces elements of social and emotional learning into each learning environment.

Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of Ethiopia, Madda Walabu University (MWU) is a coeducational Ethiopian higher education institution. Madda Walabu University (MWU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study.
